Chapter 5 progress report

 Hello!

It’s been a bit, sorry for the lack of updates, traveling is peaking. This shouldn’t affect the update on Monday but it’s why I’ve been a bit slow on blog updates and comments.

Speaking of, I’m still astounded every time I post. Like seriously, the kudos increase by 100 each time and bookmarks by 10-20. As a result, I feel incredibly motivated to improve. Which leads me to what will make me improve: writing more diverse stories and challenges. I’m currently writing stuff for online competitions, under a pen name, and will hopefully submit those by the end of the month. They won’t interfere with the update schedule, again I prioritize the story above all, but it should help me get real experience seeing how my writing stacks. Cuz I only have like one source of feedback right now which is you guys on fanfiction sites, I wanna see if my writing style works just in general or if it can’t work in official settings.

Now onto what most care about, chapter 5 is nearly done writing. Once I finish all the main stuff, the weekend will be spent making quality changes and making sure everything is balanced. No spoilers, but the chapter is taking longer to write because I’m still trying to find a satisfying way to portray the characterization of a certain character. It’s the fun part of writing, the longer it takes, usually it’s because there are too many ideas and I need to narrow down to one that works the best. Ah fun, fun, fun!

I think the hard part of writing for me isn’t really ideas, dialogue, or structure. The hard part is writing something uninteresting. Like i could probably never do shit like commissions, I don’t know how people do that, I already hate prompts that are too constrictive. Half of these writing competitions feel like that. The other half are fun if it’s just “this amount of words.” Maybe it’s just me, I know a lot of people have problems with motivation, staying focused, or certain parts of story building. I don’t really have a problem with those but maybe it’s just me being new to writing. It could happen if I ever push myself too hard. Oh but it would be fun to push myself to the point of insanity. Though I do consider myself slightly off-kilter. Eh, maybe it’s just perspective.

Anyway, rambling aside, other writers: what’s the hardest part of writing for yall?
